Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government will now bear the CBSE exam fees of over 3.14 lakh Class 10 and 12 students, who are studying in govt, govt-aided schools, patrachar vidyalayas etc. The Delhi CM took to social media to make the announcement.

The Delhi Cabinet on Wednesday approved the government’s proposal of paying the CBSE examination fees for Class 10 and 12 students of its schools; the move will come at the cost of Rs 57 crore.

“The government will pay the expensive CBSE fees for students of all categories studying in Class 10 and 12 in Delhi government schools. Education of each Delhi student is our responsibility and we won’t allow any student’s study to get affected due to financial reasons,” he wrote.

Government’s decision to pay the board exam fees for its students has come in the wake of steep increase in exam fees by CBSE in August. For general category, students were required to pay Rs 1500 for five subjects instead of Rs 750 earlier. For SC and ST students, the fees was raised to Rs 1200 for five subjects instead of Rs 375.

The amount would be paid directly to CBSE and students need not be bothered about reimbursing the same.
