At 71st Primtime Emmy Awards, held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Game of Thrones could win in just two categories, including Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series–which compensated for it all. Peter Dinklage won the outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, beating his own GoT colleagues Alfie Allen and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who had self-nominated themselves by submitting their entries directly. With this GoT totalled 12 trophies (out of 32 nominations), 10 of which were won in Creative Arts Emmy Awards held last week.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category had four actors from HBO’s fantasy series including Gwendoline Christie, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, but none of them could win the award as Julia Garner took home the trophy for her role in Ozark.

Jon Snow aka Kit Harington lost out to Billy Porter who won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. The other nominations in the category were Jason Bateman (Ozark), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us).

Khaleesi or Daenerys Targaryen aka Emilia Clarke was beaten by Jodie Comer for her role in Killing Eve in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category. The other nominations were Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder), Laura Linney (Ozark), Mandy Moore (This Is Us), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Robin Wright (House of Cards).

Out of the six nominations in Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, three belonged to GoT but the winner was Jason Bateman, Ozark for the episode Reparations.

Game of Thrones had earlier won 10 Emmys in Creative Arts Emmy Awards a week back and was the biggest winner of the two nights. Game of Thrones Season 5 in 2015 had set a record by winning most Emmys in a single season by bagging 12 golden ladies. It has tied its own record by winning 12 trophies for the final season.
