New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra Jonas is returning to desi cinema after a long break with The Sky is Pink, the film that she’s also co-producing under the banner of RSVP Movies.

The actress during a press interaction was asked if the advent of OTT platforms especially Netflix and Amazon Prime has brought any change in the making of a film or for that matter The Sky is Pink. PeeCee said that viewers do not need to leave their brains at home and they can use both their heart and brain while watching a movie like The Sky is Pink.

“The way I see it, that it’s not only cinema that has changed, audiences have also changed with digitaisation coming. People sitting in any part of the world or any part of country can sit and watch cinema of any part of the world. Aap Delhi mein baithkar Iran ki film dekh sakte hain. Borders in this sense don’t exist anymore. It is a wonderful time for entertainment as a whole. Earlier while promoting a film stars said that you need to leave your brains while watching the film. Now audiences do not need to do that. They can use both their heart and mind while watching The Sky is Pink,” Priyanka Chopra told us.

The Sky is Pink revolves around the life of an ordinary family that faces an extraordinary situation, a tragedy that changes the trajectory of their life.

Priyanka and Farhan Akhtar’s characters are inspired by real life couple Aditi and Niren Chaudhary who lost their daughter Aisha (Zaira Wasim) to the aforementioned disease. Rohit Suresh Saraf plays Ishaan Chaudhary, PeeCee and Farhan’s other child.

Priyanka Chopra who was looking for something challenging post Quantico found an apt role as Aditi Chaudhary, mother of a teenage daughter suffering from a life-threatening disease Pulomnory Fibrosis.

“I was really looking for a challenge after doing Quantico for three years, I had stopped surprising and challenging myself. I wanted a role that was an immersive experience for me, a fim that scared me. This film scared me in every scene. I am not a mother and I don’t t know the emotion of losing a child, because it is not the order of the nature. I was feeling challenged and I needed it as an actor,” she told us.

The Sky is Pink has already been premiered at Toronto International Film Festival where the audiences gave the film a standing ovation.

In India, the film is releasing on October 11 in theatres.
