New Delhi: Popular TV actress Daljiet Kaur is out of Bigg Boss 13 house after a two-week stay and got a fantabulous welcome at home from her 6-year-old son Jaydon who hugged her tight and asked his mommy if she enjoyed the game.
The Guddan Tumse Na Ho Paayega actress was applauded by host Salman Khan for playing a graceful game. In an exclusive chat with Top Lead India the actress told us that she was not prepared to leave at the moment as she was playing a strong game and had started to form bonds.
Daljiet also opened up on Paras and Shehnaz faking their relationship on the show as she feels one cannot fall in love so soon. She also told us why housemates distanced themselves from Shefali and Koena and the mistakes they made.
How was your experience in Bigg Boss 13 house in these two weeks?
It was really nice. It’s a once in a lifetime experience to be locked up inside with cameras all around. You know that whatever you are doing or saying is being watched all over the world. It’s intimidating. Then you are put into a place with strong-headed people and to co-exist is not easy at all.
I just think that my relationships were building and I was not prepared to leave now and I was sure that within a week more I would have emerged really strong. I was mentally prepared for the game now. It was just two weeks and I was making relationship with Rashami, Devoleena, Sidharth Shukla, Sana, Paras all of us were starting to get to know each other. Initially when people came, they came with a certain strategy, but I was being myself and I was standing up for whatever I considered right. And I was doing tasks well.
People who know me for long in the industry or otherwise are aware that this is how I am in real life.
Many people are saying you played safe. Were you conscious about your image?
It’s not about being image conscious, I had nothing to hide. I am not scared that if I am angry, I will say gaalis because I don’t even know how to. So, I was not scared of my worst self coming out because this is it. I was really angry at Siddharth Dey and spoke with a lot of anger and that’s the worst I could be. I take time to know people and when I know them, there’s a sense of respect that automatically comes from them. I was very sure that the bonds will become very strong but I didn’t get the time.
I think one needs to have a better story to get highlighted more, but it wasn’t that I was not doing much or was not there.
Who’s the smartest player in BB 13 house right now?
I think Paras. He was doing everything from the point of view of the game. Agar main love karunga to ye better hoga, triangle better lagta hai, usme jealousy bhi honi chahiye. He was doing things from the perspective of how they are being seen outside which I am sure people will be able to see.
Who’s that one contestant who disappointed you the most?
Besides Rashami and Aarti, I met everybody, be it Siddharth Shukla, Paras, for the first time, so I did not have any expectations from anybody. But I could see there were a lot of fake emotions being displayed unnecessarily too soon. I was sure that people will be able to make it out but apparently not.
There was a lot of hue and cry over you breaking Shehnaz’s matki and booting her out of Rani No. 1 task.
I don’t understand. I was very sure I wanted to nominate her. I would do it all over again. We had a good bond at the end of it. After I broke her matki, she realized that I wanted to make a bond with her. She is a nice girl and I have nothing against her but I do think she plays along with Paras knowing that it might benefit her. I don’t think there is genuine love and jealousy. I just think that within a week calling it love or relationship is too early.
I also thought she was not mingling with any of us. I was making a lot of effort but I don’t think that was reciprocated because she was very comfortable with Abuji, Asim, Sidharth group because that did well for her. My reason for breaking her matki was because I genuinely wanted to connect with her. When I broke her matki she started connecting with me and she could see that it was not telling her that she was bad or wrong but was telling her that come, meet, get to talk to me.
Shefali Bagga created a lot of noise in the first week after name-calling Aarti and Rashami. All of a sudden, she’s not seen at all. What’s her strategy after all?
Shefali is somebody who’s very clear that she will stoop to whatever level she had to and had no remorse. She is somebody who’s just very clear that she would play a game at the cost of connections. It was too early for her to say that I’m here to play a game and I don’t want to give a damn about you. It pulled everybody apart from her. It’s not that she went into a shell; everybody started maintaining a distance from her. At that time she started connecting with Siddharth Dey because she literally didn’t find confidante in anybody. Now slowly she’s trying to mingle with everybody but at that time everybody took a step back because task koi bhi karo benefit mujhe do.
The argument I had with her was if Aarti had gotten up in the task (BB Hospital), I would have given her the credit. Why do you think you should be the queen? Other contenders were much stronger than her and it was unrealistic of her to expect that she was more deserving. I told this to Salman sir also that I don’t agree with her and I still stand by that.
Koena Mitra is also among the contestants who are unable to connect with a lot of contestants.
Within the first week, we called her didi not because she was older or we wanted to look younger, but because she has got that aura of an elder person, somebody who is matured and disciplined so out of respect we called her didi. Because she’s a Bengali and in Bengal it’s a very respectful thing to do.
In first week we thought she was very good at giving feedback to people. Aise hona chahiye, waisa hona chahiye. But second week onwards we started understanding that she herself was not doing half of the things. She was taking care of living room and she did it well. And she was very good at telling people what to do but we did not see that involvement that others had in the house and she was not making connections that we probably were. Then, people started keeping distance from her.
If given a chance would you re-enter the BB 13 house?
I have nothing to hide, I have no regret. So, definitely I would re-enter and do things exactly how I was doing. Probably now because I have seen a few videos and know what’s coming across and how it’s being edited, I will have a little better take on the game. I will not take everything to the heart.
What was your son Jaydon’s reaction upon seeing you back?
After finishing my interviews I came home. It was early morning. I just hugged him and he woke up from his early morning sleep. He did not jump or anything and very matter of factly asked me-is the competition over? I said yes. He asked–Did you lose? I said, yeah I lost. Then he asked– did you enjoy mummy? I said I did great. Then he hugged me so tight that I thought that I could lose a hundred battles if I’m going to get that kind of welcome for the rest of my life.
