I am no expert on the topic of life but I know that most educated people are chasing the answers to the existential questions of life. One of the most common one being what is the purpose of life?
The below thoughts have guided me a lot and I do not wish to impose them on you. The only goal in expressing these is to help you find your own answers.
Here is my six point answer to help people find an answer:
1. There is no one answer to this question and the answer depends on your environment, education and experience. You will never be able to find an answer that will be confirmed by an external authority.
2. This question is to make you think and do something worthwhile with the time of your life. It is no surprise that human life has been blessed by evolutionary forces and possibilities, way more than the life of any other animal species. A human can upgrade his or her life through conscious thinking while an animal or a tree cannot change too much beyond their instincts.
3. This question should make you feel good about life, rather than making you miserable. Most people who are trying too hard to find their purpose get fooled by their own overthinking or gullible nature. Thus if this question gives you more confusion than clarity, then you must remember that thinking about life comes at the cost of life.
4. Completely ignoring this question may make you a consumer, rather than a creator or a contributor. The magic lies in just the right amount of introspection and reflection. The habit of journaling helps here since it stops you from getting into circular thinking and you can track your progress.
5. One way to get closer to your purpose is to become better at the fundamental things. Get healthier, stronger, richer, kinder, and smarter with each passing day. This way you may or may not find the answer, but you will not feel lost too.
6. I think the purpose of life is to become completely independent, and help others get there too without any kind of burnout. Thus the things that I chase the most are freedom and compassion. Freedom to not be controlled by individuals and institutions and the compassion to help those who deserve to be helped.
The purpose for me is to live a great life and to leave a net-surplus of everything good. Yet, remember this is the answer I found through my journey, you need to find your own answers.
