New Delhi: After Ghost Stories, Karan Johar’s next directorial venture is Takht, the historical drama revolving around the rivalry between Aurangzeb and his brother Dara Shikoh.
Johar took to social media to unveil the first teaser of his magnum opus and announced its release date on December 24, 2021.
“Presenting #TAKHT. Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar & Apoorva Mehta. Screenplay by Sumit Roy. Starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor AND Anil Kapoor. Releasing Christmas, 24.12.2021,” tweeted Karan Johar.
Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar & Apoorva Mehta, the screenplay of the film is by Sumit Roy.

In the teaser, a golden thrown is shown with a voice over saying: “Mughal shehzaadon ke liye Takht ka raasta apno ke taboot se hokar jaata tha. Agar yeh raasta mohabbat se hokar jaata toh shayad Hindustan ka itihaas kuch aur hota.”
The film has a stellar cast of Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kausal, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Jahnvi Kapoor. While KJo has directed Lust Stories and Ghost Stories for Netflix, for silver screen he is marking a return in direction after a gap of five years post his 2016 release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
