New Delhi: US President Donald Trump and wife Melania Trump were received warmly at Ahmedabad airport by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi hugged Trump warmly and shook hands with Melania.
While Trump was seen in a white shirt, yellow tie and black suit, Melania was seen in a serene and breezy white pantsuit, designed by Indian-American designer Rachel Roy. The two along with PM Narendra Modi will be addressing a crowd of over 1 lakh people at Motera stadium in Ahmedabad for the Namaste Trump event.
As the triumvirate walked towards their vehicles, the American President and his wife got the first glimpse of Gujarati culture as a group of dancers performed garba in colourful clothes.

Donald and Melania will undertake a roadshow of 22 km before reaching a packed Motera stadium. En route Trumps also visited Sabarmati Ashram for ten minutes where they also wrote a message in the visitor’s register.
“To my great friend Prime Minister Modi. Thank you for this wonderful visit,” read Donald Trump’s short and sweet message on the register.

Donald Trump was also seen spinning Charkha and looked at it in awe. Later, Modi presented a memento of Mahatma Gandhi’s Three Monkeys to the Trumps and explained their significance to the duo.
“I look forward to being with the people of India. We are going to have many millions and millions of people. It’s a long trip. I get along very well with Prime Minister Modi. He’s a friend of mine.” Trump told reporters outside White House before leaving.
“I had committed to this trip long time ago. I look forward to it. I heart it’s going to be a big event..the biggest event they ever had in India. That’s what the Prime Minister told me. It’s going to be very exciting. I am going to be there for one night,” Trump said.
The Trumps will fly for over 30 hours to spend 34 hours in total. In their two-day visit, Apart from the bilateral talks in Delhi, there is also a visit to Taj Mahal in Trump’s itinerary, Trump will leave for Agra from Ahmedabad at 3:30 PM and watch the sunset at Taj Mahal around 5:15 PM, according to The Indian Express. The US delegation will head to New Delhi on Tuesday for bilateral engagements.
The White House delegation includes three of Trump’s family members including daughter Ivanka.
