New Delhi: It’s International Women’s Day and legendary cricketer Sachin Tenduklar took this opportunity to share his thoughts about the women in his life.

Posting a heartwarming video on Twitter, Tendulkar reminisced about his childhood and early days in the sport. He attributed his success to five women- His mother, aunt, wife, mother-in-law and daughter.

“In various phases of our life, in different roles & ways, YOU have changed our lives for the better. Today is a day we cherish and celebrate YOU all. Happy #InternationalWomensDay! #SHEinspiresme,” read Sachin’s tweet.

Sachin opens up about his relationship with his mother in the video and talks about how she always looked after him and his health. “Child’s health is the most important thing and she did everything possible to make sure that I was healthy and happy,” he said.

About his aunt, Sachin talks about the time he moved into her home as it was closer to the cricket field. “And I stayed with her for four years. And she is like another mother for me.”

He also thanks his wife Anjali and her parents for supporting his decisions on and off the field. “When we started our family, she was the one who took the initiative and told me that okay I am going to look after our family. You have a responsibility to play for India. People are expecting lot of things from you. I think it was a big decision, it was a game changer for me,” said Sachin.

The ace cricketer also thanks his mother-in-law and father-in-law for supporting him in their own way. “Not to forget Anjali mother. Whether it was to do with my cricketing decisions on or off the field decisions, both Anjali’s mother and her father were involved in their own little way and always supported me,” he said.

Lastly, Sachin speaks about how he is proud of his daughter Sara for turning into a wonderful young woman and staying true to her roots. “She has not forgotten her roots and yet she has the advantage of getting exposure to the newer things in this world. That partnership, that combination had made her into a wonderful woman that I am proud of,” he said.
