Mumbai: Alia Bhatt at 27 has an impressive body of work with the right mix of commercial hits and critically acclaimed films. Hardly has she ever gone wrong with the choice of her films, barring films like Kalank or Shandaar. Call her lucky or a good Student of Cinema, Alia Bhatt is making rapid strides in the industry with almost 8-10 years of experience.
Starting her career with Student of The Year in 2012 and taking cinema lovers by surprise with Highway as her second film 3 years later in 2014, Alia balanced the heavy film with two masala releases next–2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.
Before she could slip down the success ladder after the forgettable Shandaar, Udta Punjab came to her rescue and she received rave reviews for her acting again. When she tries her hands at an experimental film like Dear Zindagi, she makes sure to balance it with a commercial hit like Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya. With Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi, and then Gully Boy, it’s easier to forget a Kalank.
Alia Bhatt on chat show Starry Nights 2.Oh! looked back at the initial phase of her career and disclosed her biggest fear. “It’s very easy to get lost and start believing in the image that is put out there about you. No matter how talented or focused I am, it will get the better of me one day and nobody will want to work with me,” revealed Alia as her biggest fear.
Alia seems to be perfectly trained for acting considering her starry lineage, but it was not all cake walk for her and there was a point in her career where she needed her father’s advice. “The only time I asked for help because I was having a panic attack right before I started shooting for Radha and strangely, I would never do this, but I called up my father and asked for his advice on my current predicament,” said Alia Bhatt about the one time she hesitatingly called up her father to ask for a word of advice.
It’s not Mahesh Bhatt but Karan Johar who Alia considers her true mentor though. “If I am ever confused about a film, I would rather speak about it to Karan Johar. I feel that he is my mentor and that he is somebody who I trust the most when it comes to such things.”
When asked about a controversy that made people question her I.Q. levels, Alia Bhatt had this to say, “I was never book Intelligent and refrained from reading a lot of books. Instead, I would involve myself in a lot of physical driven forms of activity. I was always aware that I wasn’t too academically intelligent, but I would try to push myself in other areas.”
Soni Razdan on Alia
Soni Razdan was grateful for the values instilled during Alia’s early years and was proud to say, “I have never heard anyone say that she has made things miserable. Alia was such a sunny child growing up and she has always been spreading a lot of love to everyone she meets.”
Sony Razdan points out that Alia Bhatt doesn’t go around lavishly spending her savings. She said, “Alia knew the value of what she was getting. Even as a child, if she was getting a mere 10 bucks, she would give it to a worthy cause or save it rather than spend it foolishly on unnecessary things.”
Mahesh Bhatt on his one advice to Alia
“You lose what you cling to, So, don’t cling to things. Enjoy glory, enjoy fame, enjoy life and most importantly enjoy love and when the time comes to say goodbye, just gracefully get up and go” was a loving advice that Alia’s father, Mahesh Bhatt had for her on the sets of Starry Nights 2.Oh!.
