Kadakh trailer: Rajat Kapoor’s critically acclaimed dark comedy set for digital premiere on June 18

After doing a round of film festivals and getting mired into controversy, Rajat Kapoor’s short film Kadakh will finally see its digital release.

New Delhi: A man wielding gun confronts his wife’s paramour about their extra-marital affair on the day when the latter least expected it. The events that unfold as the consequence of the fatal meeting forms the crux of this dark comedy.

On the day Sunil (Ranvir Shorey) and Malti (Mansi Multani) are hosting a Diwali party, Sunil is visited by an uninvited guest – the husband of the woman he is having an extramarital affair with.

What follows is a series of events that turns their festival of lights into a night of dark revelations.

After doing a round of film festivals and getting mired into controversy, Rajat Kapoor’s short film Kadakh will finally see its digital release on Sony Liv on June 18.

Kadakh directed by Rajat Kapoor brings together an ensemble cast of Ranvir Shorey, Mansi Multani, Cyrus Sahukar, Shruti Seth, Tara Sharma Saluja, Sagar Deshmukh, Nupur Asthana, Kalki Koechlin, Chandrachoor Rai, Palomi Ghosh, Manoj Pahwa and Yamini Das.

The short film ran into choppy waters in 2018 after being dropped from Mumbai film festival owing to the sexual harassment allegations against its director Rajat Kapoor.

In 2019, the film was showcased at South Asian International Film Festival held from November 20-24, 2019 in New York and received favourable response.

The strong performances won accolades for the film soon and it got actor Chandrachoor Rai a Special Mention at the 66th National Film Awards. He plays the husband who commits suicide after coming to know about his wife’s extramarital affair with another man.

The film releases on Sony Liv on June 18.
