New Delhi: After creating an impression in Bollywood with his fine acting skills, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is now ruling the world of OTT platforms with his power-packed performances. Be it Sacred Games, Raat Akeli or the recently released Ghoomketu, Nawaz surely knows how to portray a wide range of character with astonishing ease.

His upcoming film Serious Men, directed by Sudhir Mishra will hit Netflix tomorrow (October 2), and fulfills his long-cherished dream of working with the ace director. He had earlier shared on social media how back in 2000 an assistant director had promised him a meeting with Mishra, but it never happened.

Nawaz plays an ambitious underachiever who tormented with his under-privileged societal status, capitalizes on his son’s newfound fame as a boy-genius to improve his family’s fortunes. Little does he realize that the secret he harbors will destroy the very thing he loves the most.

Nawazuddin recently shared an interesting incident that occurred on the sets of Serious Men that shall forever stay as one of the most precious memories for the talented actor.

Director Sudhir Mishra told the crew to get Nawaz on the sets without realizing that he was already standing amidst them! Nawaz quickly stepped forward and gave a fantastic take in the first go itself! Sudhir Mishra praised the actor’s astute acting skills by stating that even though he is a part of the commoners, he stands out distinctly because of his craft and expertise.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui says, “Sudhir sir is like a Guru to me, who I was waiting to work with for 20 years. His excellence and willingness to deliver content basis his vision is one of the qualities I truly appreciate. My experience of working with him has been the best. One day while we were shooting for Serious Men, he made a remark that he often feels in spite of me being a part of the crowd, I never fail to stand out. I feel that this is one of the best compliments I have received throughout my career and I will cherish it for a lifetime.”

The actor is quite upbeat about the release of the film. Sharing his thoughts, the actor said, “The amount of enthusiasm I have for this project, cannot be described in words as I had waited 20 years to work with Sudhir Mishra. It’s truly a dream come true moment for me. Getting into the skin of Ayyan was not that difficult for me as I have been in most of the situations in real life of what my character goes through. So the only thing I had to do was to portray my role with utmost conviction. I am hopeful that viewers will love my performance in Serious Men.”

Directed by National Award winner Sudhir Mishra, and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Ayyan Mani, the film is based on the novel by the same name, written by author Manu Joseph. The script has been brought to life by writer-producer Bhavesh Mandalia (Oh My God! and Angrezi Medium) and was filmed in Mumbai.

Talking about Serious Men Sudhir Mishra said, “The great thing about Manu Joseph’s novel is that it is funny and wacky, yet deeply emotional. The film charts its own graph for the transformation of the story to another medium, but it still remains an endearing story of a father’s desire to create a bright future for his son. It is a delight to bring this tale to the world along with a creative partner in Netflix. The film may be specific in its articulation, but it is very universal at the same time.”

Serious Men also stars Aakshath Das, Shweta Basu Prasad, Nasser, Indira Tiwari apart from Nawaz.

It premieres on October 2 on Netflix
