Now that Bigg Boss 14 has premiered amid massive expectations from the fans thanks to the humongous success of Bigg Boss 13, it has no option but to try every trick in the card to get ahead of its predecessor.
The grand premiere of the show unfortunately didn’t match the hype created by the futuristic theme of the show and the promises of a masaledaar season by Salman in BB Press conference. Netizens have given a big thumbs down to the line-up and some are even going to the extent of calling it boring.
For now Bigg Boss 14 looks nothing more than a ragging session of ‘seniors’ Sidharth Shukla, Gauahar Khan, Hina Khan and ‘freshers’ Eijaz Khan, Nikki Tamboli, Rubina Dilaik, Abhinav Shukla, Jasmine Bhasin, Nishant Singh Malkani, Shehzad Deol, Sara Gurpal, Jaan Kumar Sanu, Pavitra Punia and Rahul Vaidya.
People who have seen the grand premiere episode saw how Rubina, Jaan, Sara, and Nishant got the rejected tag (for no apparent reason) and will face a couple of challenges before they can be part of the main house.
For the uninitiated, this season Bigg Boss 14 has introduced the concept of TBS (To be Selected) and Rejected contestants that will culminate in the first 14 days of the show. Similarly ‘senior contestants’ from the previous seasons Sidharth, Gauahar, Hina will stick around for the first two weeks and have been given special powers. Sidharth is the in-charge of bedroom, while Gauahar is the kitchen queen. Hina is the head of luxury items and services plus personal belongings. We also hear that four more contestants will be added to this existing lot after two weeks while the seniors will exit from the house.
The preview clips of Day 1 cash in on the popularity of former Bigg Boss contestant Sidharth Shukla as Nikki urges him to let her select a bed of her choice and also Shukla flirts with his Dil Se Dil Tak co-star Jasmin. Another clip shows Jasmin and Nikki catfighting over household tasks where the latter refuses to do bartan and cook food.
It’s too soon to call Bigg Boss 14 a drab season, but if makers want it to do well in TRP department, they will have to add some fun tasks and better format. But ultimately contestants are the king in Bigg Boss and if they fail to sizzle, the show will be a flop.
