Netflix’s upcoming film Kaali Khuhi is not a conventional horror story. It is the tale that revolves around the curse placed on a village which has the history of female infanticide.
A village in Punjab is the scene for mysterious deaths of its residents and a 10-year-old girl Shivangi (Riva Arora) decides to find out the truth and a way to save the village from a restless spirit connected with its horrific past.
The teaser starts with a small bundle like thing (or maybe an infant’s body) being thrown down a round opening and a kid’s voiceover asking – tujhe bhoot ki kahaniyaan pasand hai. The video clip also introduces Shabana Azmi’s character Satya Maasi.
“Ek sadi se ye reet chali aa rahi hai, lekin ye paap hai,” says another voice over, as villagers are upto something which is clearly not right.
“Ye sab kya ho raha hai maasi,” screams the little Shivangi questioning the events that baffle her. Some spooky events flash thereafter as the girl stands petrified shivering with terror. What is it that the villagers are hiding? Will little Shivangi be able to find the mystery?
Directed by Terrie Samundra, the film has been produced by Anku Pande and Ramon Chibb, and features Shabana Azmi, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Satyadeep Mishra and Riva Arora in pivotal roles.
The film is written by Rupinder Inderjit, David Walter Lech and Terrie Samundra. The film will release on Netflix on October 30, a day before Halloween.
