New Delhi: ‘Bade bade deshon mein aaisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain’, ‘Jaa Simran Jaa Jee Le Apni Zindagi’.
Almost every 90s kid who grew up on the diet of typical Bollywood films must have seen Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge multiple times. Die-hard movie buffs of course lost count of the number of times they saw Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) and Simran (Kajol) romancing in the backdrop of picturesque yellow mustard fields and humming the soft melodious tunes by Jatin-Lalit.
The Aditya Chopra directorial originally released on October 20, 1995 and the magic continued for 20 more years as the film continued its run even if in a single cinema hall Maratha Mandir. The film ran for an uninterrupted 1009 weeks and was shown for the last time at 9:15 AM on February 19, 2015.
However, as cinema halls reopen post lifting of coronavirus-induced lockdown restrictions, the movie has been given a fresh lease for the sake of cinema-deprived movie buffs as it re-releases this Diwali in Maratha Mandir where the film was worshipped for more than two decades.
