Let cinema be the new Corona: Kichcha Sudeep at IFFI’s opening ceremony

Popular Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeep said he’s hoping for cinema to bounce back and beome the new pandemic at the opening ceremony of IFFI.

Goa: Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeep who was also seen in Bollywood film Dabangg 3 opened the 51st edition of International Film Festival of India in Goa as the Chief Guest.

The actor while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the prestigious festival hoped cinema in India bounces back like never before and become the new pandemic. He also added how cinema can take you across the world and closer to cultures.

“Cinema along with sports I think is one thing that connects each and everyone. Let cinema be the new Corona and let it be the new pandemic. I read once somewhere that roam the world, read all the scriptures, I think cinema is one fraternity that gets you both in one seat. It takes you all around the world, gets you knowledge, gets you closer to culture of every fraternity across the world,” said Sudeep.

Sudeep started his film career with Kannada movie Thayavva in 1997 where he played supporting role. He also got popular after playing an antagonist in S. S. Rajamouli’s Eega which was titled Makkhi in its Hindi version. In Bollywood he made his debut with Phoonk and has also worked in Rann, Rakta Charitra and Phoonk 2 among other movies.

International Film Festival of India (IFFI) started on January 16 and will go on till January 24 in Goa. The annual edition of the prestigious festival was originally scheduled for November 20-28, but got delayed due to the pandemic.

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI), founded in 1952, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. It is conducted jointly by the Directorate of Film Festivals and the state Government of Goa.
