New Delhi: Kamdhenu Gowdham and Arogya Sansthan has come up with cow-cuddling therapy for those stressed from super busy city life and looking for alternative therapies to soothe their nerves.
Led by retired IAS officer and ex-Chairman of Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) SP Gupta, the Sansthan on Tuesday announced to open the cow-cuddling centre at its sprawling facility near the bustling suburb of Gurugram in Haryana.
Claiming that the therapy is prevalent in the US and European countries, Kamdhenu Gowdham and Arogya Sansthan said in a note that cow-cuddling could cure a clutch of lifestyle diseases such as hypertension, anxiety and blood pressure.
In some of the foreign countries, cow-cuddling is referred to as cow-munication which means communicating with the cow. As much as Rs 22,000 could be charged in the US for 90-minutes cow cuddling therapy.
How this therapy works
The cow-cuddling method includes touching the cow, hugging it, sitting with support, caressing its body and breathing with it.
“From this, not only respiratory diseases, blood pressure, spinal pain, heart problems, depression and TB are cured but also, according to psychologists, by this medical practice the sadness, anxiety, all kinds of tensions are cured, mind becomes healthier and there happens to be increase in confidence of human beings,” the official note said.
Kamdhenu Gowdham and Arogya Sansthan said that hugging of cow could help normalise breathing and hence reduce stress. Further, it is because of low heart rates of the cow and the temperature of the body being high a person taking the therapy feels calm and serene.
Kamdhenu Gowdham’s SP Gupta was hailed by animal lovers for his contribution in the field of animal welfare during his term as AWBI Chairman. He has been running the Gaushala at village Bissar-Akbarpur in Taudu district of Haryana. In the locality, the practice of cow-slaughter has come to a complete halt due to his efforts to protect cows which are worshipped by Indian households.
