TLI Opinion
My dear fellow countrymen, we are passing through the most challenging times in a long history. The pain and tragedy many people are going through is unimaginable. The pandemic has devastated so many families. It has taken away so many lives and continues to unleash catastrophe.
I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their dear ones. May God give them courage to face the tragic loss and stand on their feet.
Many lives could have been saved by providing emergency health care on time. There is no scope for any excuse on part of the government, either Centre or states, as we had more than a year at hand to prepare for the impending crisis. I am extremely sorry for the lapses on part of the government.
Personally, I plead guilty.
I regret my actions in recent days. Political rallies and religious congregations could have been certainly avoided.
Vaccination drive could have covered more people. More money could have been spent on creating hospital beds instead of pumping funds for redesigning the Lutyen’s Zone and erecting new Parliament building.
You can put me in the dock for my actions but I can assure you that my intentions are as pious they always were. Let us once again make an all-out effort to set the system right.
Let’s us extend our helping hand for any one of us in need.
The second wave of Coronavirus pandemic has hit us like storm. Experts have said that the coming few weeks are going to be very crucial for India. Hence we have to be very careful and cautious in our behaviour. Unless it is extremely necessary, we should not venture out from the house. And, never ever outside the house without mask on the face and sanitizer in the pocket.
The current situation is grave and no less than a national emergency. We will put all available resources to scale up our health infrastructure. Till vaccination covers each one of us in every city, town and village, the guard has to be up.
The government will put out all the stops to ensure hospitals have enough oxygen and ventilators. The oxygen produced for industrial use will be diverted to hospitals after turning them into medical grade. The duties will be cut to zero on the import of ventilators and all necessary medical equipment, till the time we meet our requirement.
Necessary orders would be issued by the relevant authorities in this regard.
All our frontline workers, volunteers, doctors, administrative staff, police personnel, media persons deserve a big shout-out. The tough time is never permanent. This too shall pass.
With these words, I conclude my message. Jai Hind!
