After the success of The Visitor, Mumbai-based artist and LGBTQ filmmaker Nakshatra Bagwe has launched the second season of the web series on YouTube, which will feature nine newcomers. The current season is weaved around riveting love stories of same-sex couples, transgender community’s challenges and the complex realities of the dating world for gays.
The series is about PRIDE and Travel, two things that Nakshatra always wanted to incorporate into a project that gave birth to the concept of The Visitor.
A gay icon, Naksh works for a travel magazine and is passionate filmmaker who loves to explore diverse locations for his work.
For the first season of The Visitor, Naksh travelled to several locations like Kolhapur while he the series moves to Gujarat in season 2. Naksh’s dating experiences, the people he meets, the friends he makes along the road, and the way he views tourist attractions all contribute in some way or the other to The Visitor’s story.
In an attempt to support people from LGBTQ+ community, Nakshtra wanted to rope in a diverse cast including nine newcomers to give them a change which he was denied initially.
Talking about his struggle days, Nakshtra said he worked on himself, created opportunities for himself, and is glad that he is now in a position to help others in the LGBTQ+ community. The filmmaker is elated that the numbers are getting better with each episode.
“A project like The Visitor 2 takes two months to plan. Finding suitable community artists is a difficult task because many people are still in the closet and fear portraying a gay figure. I’m extremely pleased with my entire team, who has worked tirelessly to assist us break down societal obstacles. All I want is that everyone enjoys the second season and shows their love and blessings,” says Nakshatra.
