India on way to become global drone hub, says exports body

Indian drone manufacturing start-ups have surged by 34.4% over August–November 2021-22 reaching 221 in 2022

New Delhi: India’s drone services industry is expected to grow to over $3.63 billion in the next three years with a 60% growth in the sector over 2021-2026, said an official statement from engineering exports promotion body EEPC India.

Suranjan Gupta, Executive Director, EEPC India said that commercial drone market in India is growing very fast and the government is encouraging greater use of drone linked surveys, monitoring and surveillance across public sectors and geographic regions.

Speakers at a joint session on ‘Scope of Business in Drone Manufacturing, Pilot Training and Entrepreneurial Opportunities’ in Kolkata stated that Indian drone manufacturing start-ups have surged by 34.4 %  over August–November 2021-2022  reaching  221 in 2022.

‘Future is bright in drone investment and pilot training and one needs to be aware of the suitable financial schemes for business and export in this sector to take a conscious decision,” said speakers participating in the session.

G N Madhu, Growth & Investment Advisor, Garuda Aerospace Pvt Ltd and India Exim Bank DGM & Regional Head, Ajay Rana participated in the event.
