An evening stroll with wife turned a nightmare for an Indian student in Australia. A bunch of men attacked the unsuspecting chap and left him with multiple facial fractures and brain trauma, said a report in The Australian Today.
Charanjeet Singh, 23, residing in Central Adelaide, Australia, stepped out to see the city’s light displays, accompanied by his wife on July 19, Saturday. Soon after he parked his car near Kintore avenue, around 9:22 pm, a group of five men, who emerged from another vehicle, surrounded them, and attacked Singh with metal knuckles without any provocation.
The brutal assault is said to be racially motivated as the attackers allegedly said ‘f— off, Indian’, during the attack, pointing to a deeper hatred towards Indian community in Australia.
“They just said ‘f— off, Indian’, and after that they just started punching,” 9News quoted him as saying. “I tried to fight back, but they beat me until I was unconscious,” he added.
The youth was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital and was diagnosed with brain trauma, multiple facial fractures, a broken nose and severe eye injuries, which required overnight hospital stay and surgeries.

“When the police arrived, they found the victim on the floor with facial injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment. Investigations are continuing,” a police official told The Indian Sun.
Out of the five attackers, one was arrested on Sunday on charges of assault causing harm by South Australia Police. While he was released on bail, the search for the remaining attackers continues.
The footage of the heart-breaking incident is now going viral, triggering widespread outrage and demand for justice for Singh. The clip shows the Indian man being hit on his face and stomach continuously, while his wife shouts for help while trying to stop them. The attackers are then seen getting back to their vehicle, leaving Singh unconscious.
“The question should be asked from the country Why has India always been a failure to her citizens that so many have to leave in search of jobs and education ? The fault is the dispensations since 1947,” said a user on X.
“Stop these sorts of treatment to minor communities in India and it will stop everywhere. Try it out and take care,” another wrote.
