New Delhi: Bigg Boss 13 is a week away from its first grand finale and things are heating up with each passing day. Abu Malik is the latest contestant to walk out of the house after Koena Mitra and Daljiet Kaur got eliminated last week in double eviction.
Abu Malik, 58, in a no-holds-barred conversation with Top Lead India expressed his displeasure over the current season’s format of connections and the concept of BFFs. He also said that he had made up his mind about quitting the show after seeing people torturing each other brutally. According to him, red chillies, bleach and other such products should not be used on contestants that can cause significant damage.
Excerpts from the telephonic conversation:
TLI: Considering Bigg Boss 13 is a season of connections and there are a lot of young single people trying desperately to build connections with each other in order to survive in the game, do you think you were a bit of a misfit?
Abu Malik: Not at all. I had a lot of women hitting on me all the time. (laughs). On a serious note, I didn’t want to bother about connections. I didn’t want to make them. I was not comfortable with the arrangement of bed sharing. In fact even on the first day, I slept outside, if you have seen the footage.
I was like kar lo jo karna hai. Nobody said anything to me. I tried to take the right step. Neither was I interested in relationships with anybody nor I tried to make any connections with anybody. They should have informed me that this is how it’s going to turn out.
TLI: So you were not informed about the format of the show before entering the house?
Abu Malik: It was told to me right there on the stage when I was supposed to go inside that this is the format of the show. So I took my stand and did what best I could. How could I form connections?
I did not have any enmity with anybody. Rashami and Sidharth had enmity so they had a connection. Paras and Shehnaz had a connection. There were others who tried to make a connection with me, but I rejected it and that made them angry.
TLI: At what point did the Tedha season started affecting you?
Abu Malik: When I saw how people were seeking pleasure in torturing other, and when I got tortured and burnt during a task, I thought it was high time to walk out of the show.
TLI: Do you think chillies, bleach, and other such things to torture the contestants should be banned on the show?
Abu Malik: Bigg Boss makers should put an end to it. Using chillies and substances to burn each other up…why should they have something like that? The point is..kisi ki aankhon mein mirchi daal do…how’s that person going to take it? I was subjected to it and I wasn’t comfortable.
TLI: Considering your age, you also endured a lot in that task and it was all to save yourself and Asim from nominations.
Abu Malik: For 9 hours we kept on holding each other’s hand. Yes, I was like way elder to Asim. When I heard about the task, it did cross my mind that I should be the one who should go out. I wanted Asim to stay. I liked the kid.
TLI: You were also seen crying along with Asim when the torture got too much.
Abu Malik: I cried because of him. I was feeling bad for him.
TLI: Who do you think will enter the first finale? Three boys and three girls are supposed to reach finale.
Abu Malik: Asim, Paras, Sidharth Shukla among boys and Rashami, Sana, Mahira and Shefali, four girls deserve to be there.
TLI: Was Paras Chhabra’s attempt to make a love triangle with Shehnaz and Mahira fake? It made the show look scripted.
Abu Malik: As far as emotions were concerned nothing was fake. He had a love triangle going on and he had admitted that he was doing it for the game. The show is not scripted at all; contestants might be making their own stories. Bigg Boss does not tell them to do anything.
TLI: Do you think Paras and Shehnaz have real feelings for each other?
Abu Malik: Yes, I felt that and I told them that there is something going on. As the game goes ahead, you realize that young people are not into each other at all. They have their own game plan and doing their bit.
TLI: Who is real and who’s playing a game inside the Bigg Boss 13 house?
Abu Malik: A lot of them are living themselves. Sidharth Shukla. Asim, Aarti..they all are real. Mahira doesn’t know where she is. Rashami has understood the game and that by playing on her hate story with Sidharth she could get eyeballs.
TLI: Will you re-enter the show given a chance. If yes, will you change your strategy?
Abu Malik: I don’t know about my re-entry. I don’t think I will have any strategy as such. I never had any. I played in my own way, in a fun and entertaining way. Overall, it was an experience of a lifetime. Except for these minor incidents, the experience was nice.
