New Delhi: The body of a woman goes missing from a morgue and Rishi Kapoor is brought in for investigating the case. The dead woman is a powerful business woman Maya (Sobhita Dhulipala) married to Emraan Hashmi who is the director in her company and also a guest lecturer in a university.
Rishi quizzes Emraan and his irritability shows that something is amiss. Turns out Emraan is the one who hatched the conspiracy to murder his wife along with another woman (Vedhika) with whom he is having an extra-marital affair.
The trailer show Emraan spiking his wife’s drink with a medicine but it also shows how Maya comes to know about his plan and does not drink it.
However, Maya dies. Or maybe she is pretending to be dead and now after her body has gone missing, Emraan suspects that Maya is playing a game with him having understood his conspiracy.
So is Maya dead or alive?
Helmed by Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, The Body is a remake of a 2012 Spanish film of the same name.
Sobhita has proved her mettle in the digital world in series like Made in Heaven and most recently Bard of Blood, but for the first time, she wins hearts in an out and out commercial venture and displays her range as a mainstream actress.
Emraan Hashmi excels in this genre and this time too he is expected to give a power-packed performance. Rishi Kapoor makes a comeback after his cancer treatment and like always is a delight to watch on screen.
The Body gives us web series feels and naturally so as the world of entertainment is now increasingly shifting towards digital and the movies are bound to be impacted by the wave.
The film is expected to have lots of twists and turns and will be a treat for the fans of murder mystery.
