New Delhi: Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap-starrer AK vs AK is getting accolades across the globe. The film’s unique narrative where the main actors play fictionalised versions of themselves was received well by viewers also as evident by the film featuring in top 10 list of Netflix in 10 countries. The story of the film is written by Avinash Sampath.

In AK vs AK, Anurag Kashyap after a public spat with Anil Kapoor kidnaps his daughter Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and films his search for her in real time.

Interestingly, the film’s shooting was completed in a mere 21 days in December 2019 which according to Anil Kapoor is his fastest-ever film. The film became an instant rage too, that too across the globe as people in as many as 40 countries watched it.

The film’s promotion strategy was equally unique with both AKs (Anil and Anurag) engaging in a Twitter war before the release.

“I am beyond ecstatic with the success of AK vs AK. All around the world, fans have given our film an immense amount of love. I am overwhelmed with the stellar response I continue to hear from all around the world today,” Anil Kapoor said about the success of the film.

When asked about working with Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, Anil Kapoor said, “I am thrilled that Netflix is betting big on genre bending cinema and giving extraordinary storytellers like Vikram a chance to express their vision. Both Vikram and Netflix trusted me whole-heartedly with this film and I am grateful to them for the chance to be a part of this incredible film. Working with Anurag was a joyride, we got along really well, and our chemistry reflects in AK vs AK. ”

AK vs AK also stars Yogita Bihani, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Harshvardhan Kapoor in supporting roles. However, Anil’s other daughter Rhea and wife Sunita refused to do the film with Rhea telling her dad that “he could not afford her”. AK vs AK released on 24 December 2020,
