New Delhi: Celebrating diverse voices in storytelling, Netflix brought together 15 inspiring women creators and actors for International Women’s Day. The image, featuring a cross section of participants, includes women across different entertainment formats – films, series, and comedy.

Curated for International Women’s Day, whose official theme this year is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”, this image celebrates women, and the inspiring stories they tell which start important, and often hard, conversations that help to challenge the way we see the world.

“The streaming service is working with 8 women first time directors, producers or writers on its film slate in India in 2020. 60 percent of Netflix (India) series and films have a woman character who are either central to the story or helmed by women,” read the press statement by Netflix.

Earlier this week, Netflix and UN Women launched Because She Watched – a special Netflix collection of series, documentaries, and films to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The collection, available all year on Netflix, is curated by 55 female creators from behind and in front of the camera – including Shefali Shah, Kiara Advani, Mithila Palkar Salma Hayek, Millie Bobby Brown, Lana Condor, and Ava DuVernay.
