Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming film Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl has joined the list of movies that are releasing directly on OTT platform due to Covid-19 crisis. The actress’ last film Ghost Stories was a Netflix original and earned her accolades for her performance.

But Janhvi feels it is Gunjan that she invested in the most as a performer and it is the film close to her heart.

“This isn’t just a film for me- it’s a journey that’s taught me to believe in myself. A journey I can’t wait to share with you all. About a girl who set out to do something simple, follow her dreams,” wrote Janhvi on her Instagram account while sharing the promo of the film.

“An extraordinary girl, an extraordinary life. Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl is landing soon! #GunjanSaxenaOnNetflix,” read an annoucement from Netflix India’s official Twitter account.

In a recent conversation with Filmfare, the actress revealed how shooting for Gunjan Saxena was life changing for her.

“The level of investment I have put in Gunjan is unparallelled. It’s like something too deep and personal. Actors have this tendency of drawing parallel to your life and the character you are playing. I have learnt so much while shooting for the film how I want to be as a person. It gave me a lot of confidence,” she said.

Janhvi plays the lead role of Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena, the first female and Indian woman airforce pilot in combat along with Srividya Rajan. It is directed by Sharan Sharma and produced under Dharma Productions and Zee Studios. The film also features Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi. The film that was earlier supposed to release on April 24 will now soon be premiering on Netflix.

Janhvi Kapoor will also be seen in Rooh Afza which is also complete soon. She has wrapped up 40% of Dostana 2.

Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushman Khurrana’s Gulabo Sitabo and Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi will also release on OTT platforms.
