Mumbai: In a shocking development, Bollywood and TV actor Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, committed suicide by hanging himself at his Bandra home. The actor was reportedly battling depression and was staying alone during lockdown. The post-mortem report is awaited.
The actor started his career with television and shot to fame with Pavitra Rishta opposite Ankita Lokhande. He forayed into Bollywood with Kai Po Che for which he earned a nomination for Best Debut Actor, and went on to do films like Shuddh Desi Romance, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath and Chhichhore.
Sushant’s last Instagram post was about his late mother who passed away in 2002.
“Blurred past evaporating from teardrops Unending dreams carving an arc of smile And a fleeting life, negotiating between the two…#माँ ❤️,” he wrote.
His sudden departure has sent shockwaves among his friends and fans.
“Honestly this news has left me shocked and speechless…I remember watching #SushantSinghRajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it. Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family 🙏🏻,” wrote Akshay Kumar.
