India has recorded 11,713 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and the overall number has reached 1,08,14,304.

New Delhi: India has recorded 11,713 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and while the overall number has reached 1,08,14,304, the active cases have dropped below 149,000, according to the latest data released by Union ministry of health and family welfare.

The ongoing vaccination drive in the country is all set to enter a new phase in March with vaccination of its elderly i.e. those aged 50 years and above, informed Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in Lok Sabha on Friday.

The vaccination programmed kicked off on January 16 and over a crore health workers were covered in it. The second phase involves the frontline workers and it is already on in many states from February 2 onwards. The Minister also added that 5 million people have already been vaccinated.

Health Ministry has also shared the number of deaths following vaccination against Coronavirus. “Total 22 deaths have been recorded till date. One new death reported in past 24 hours of a 77 year old Male in Agra, 7 days after vaccination. It was a case of shock with pre-existing Diabetes,” said a government press release.

Total 27 persons have been hospitalized so far post receiving vaccination however none of the deaths have been casually linked with Covid-19 vaccination, said the government.
