Pandemic time has brought with it uncertainty and stressful times that a person may find overwhelming at times.

Even the activities that were earlier joyful to pursue and helped unwind at times fail to make the desired impact. The confusion, the chaos, and no immediate sight of the normal lives one was accustomed to leading create dissatisfaction at a deep level.

In times like these, it’s important to look within and keep oneself grounded. Yoga comes as the most effective remedy when it comes to keeping one’s physical and mental health in check. It not only has numerous health benefits but practicing it regularly can keep one sane and happier.

The lack of activity is piling on to the troubles created by pandemic. It makes the mind dull and body stiff. The sedentary lifestyle and lack of social interactions makes one feel depressed and low on energy. Including Yoga in your morning routine energises you for the day ahead. Not only the body feels lighter, the mind too gets ready to deal with the stress more effectively. Looking at things from the positive perspective make you feel a lot about the current situation, however stressful it is at the moment.

Yoga is also very useful in managing symptoms of already existing lifestyle diseases. The cases of blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases and mental health issues are rising during pandemic. There are various asanas that can bring relief in handling these diseases if practiced regularly.

There are many people who are experiencing trouble in falling asleep during these stressful times. The lack of sleep lowers immunity and dulls the mind further. Breathing and meditation along with yoga can come to one’s rescue. Practicing Yog Nidra is especially beneficial for managing stress, anxiety, and sleep troubles.

Yoga is a natural immunity booster as it reduces stress hormones and keeps our nervous system strong. People of any age group can start with yoga to build their immunity.

As we grow older, the physical strength reduces and body’s natural defence mechanism might get affected. There are other problems like stiffness of joints, memory decline, and other associated problems. Yoga can help strengthen muscles, joints and can improve respiratory functions in elderly. It also helps keep the mind active. In pandemic times, especially Yoga can come handy for senior citizens who cannot venture out.

In short, the longer one practices the poses, the more benefits one can enjoy. The flexibility of body, the resilience of mind, and the purity of soul can be attained by regular practice of Yoga.
