We all have 24 hours to ourselves in a day, yet some of us feel more overwhelmed by day to day activities than others. While all of us have different ways to go about a day, the degree of meaningfully utilizing time varies from individual to individual.

Only a few can calmly chase their goals despite time constraints and also find time to relax in between. Then there are some who master the art of procrastination and lead a disorganized life, wasting productive chunks of their time in activities that do not fit in their priority. Most of us are in between these two extremes and end up exhausted after ticking off most boxes of our daily priority list.

There are days when we are super-efficient and then on some days we don’t feel like even doing the most basic things.

An organized, calm and disciplined mind would achieve more than a disturbed, disorganized and stressed mind. The key to having a satisfactory day lies in quietening and tidying up the mind before all the madness begins. Perhaps it is the secret behind the achievements of highly-successful people.

Meditation can help organize the mind and weed out unnecessary and negative streams of thoughts. As you peep into your inner self and connect with your subconscious, the priorities start to become clear and the stress created by excess thoughts is alleviated. As one becomes focused on what is really needed, there are fewer things to worry about and hence more efficiency can be achieved.

In the absence of a calm and collected mind, many try to multi-task and are unable to concentrate fully on one thing at a time. When the efforts are divided between multiple tasks, the results are also unsatisfactory.

Training the mind is a systematic process and meditation and yogic way of life can modify the way our brain works. As one breathes out the negativities and take in positive life force through various asanas and pranayam exercises, stability is achieved and one can lead a more productive work and personal life.

In stressful times like these when the world is reeling from the impact of Covid-19 and the lines between home and office are blurring, it is even more important to manage time between family and work well. Meditation can help create these boundaries well and enable one to function within each of the territory with calmness.
