New Delhi: Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepak Tijori and Suchitra Krishnamoorthy in lead roles and directed by Kundan Shah, released 27 years back on February 25, 1994 and appealed to the younger generation with its meldious songs and realistic portrayals. Not all love stories end in happily-ever-after and in this one too, the lead character Sunil (Shah Rukh Khan) loses his girl Anna (Suchitra) to his friend Chris (Deepak Tijori).

Apart from the love triangle, the film also delved into the various aspects of the psyche of Sunil – an average student, a loving son, a caring brother who is also madly in love with Anna but cannot gather courage to express his feelings.

He is like any other human being and gets consumed by dishonesty, jealousy and obsession at some point or the other, but knows deep in his heart what’s right and wrong. He makes the correct choice in the end, and lets destiny call the shots for him. Sunil might not have got Anna, but he won the viewers’ adulation for his simple heart.

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa also had songs like Deewana Dil Deewana, Wo To Hai Albela, Anna mere Pyaar Ko Na Tum, Ae Kaash Ke Hum among others that ruled chartbusters for the longest time and ruled hearts for even longer.

Aanjjan Srivastav who plays a strict father to Shah Rukh Khan’s character Sunil in the film shared his experience of working with director Kundal Shah, in a Facebook post. He revealed how Kundan Shah always tried to get natural shots from actors.

Here’s a small experience.
In the direction of #KundanShah
Who often tried to get the most natural take from an #actor
Having 10 years of theatre experience at the time of Shooting #KabhiHaanKabhiNaa
natural acting was a very different concept as compared to theatre acting. But as pole apart as they may seem, both were not concepts on two different pages.
Today #NaturalActing is the most integral point of selection for actors. But Theatre experience ironically helps enhance Natural Acting if done right.
Maybe that’s why they say, there’s no factory for actors, except #Theatre,” he wrote.

Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa might not have worked commercially at that time, but for 90s kids especially, it is a film quite close to their hearts.
