State-run RailTel gets Data Centre Champion award

RailTel has two data centres located in Gurugram and Secunderabad providing services to multiple government departments and agencies.

New Delhi: Railways PSU RailTel has bagged Data Centre Champion award at the Express Computer event organised by media company Indian Express group for using the latest and the state-of-art technology across various key components of data centre design such as routers, switches, cybersecurity systems, NextGen firewalls and storage systems.

RailTel has its own data centres located in Gurugram (Haryana-NCR) and Secunderabad (Telangana) providing services to multiple government organizations, departments and PSUs.

RailTel data centers are MeitY empanelled for Cloud Service Provider. Through these centers, the company is offering many services like co-location, dedicated hosting, cloud computing, disaster recovery site services and other IT/Security related services.

“RailTel data center is also having its own security operation center which makes it unique if compared with other government data center service providers,” said the state-run company in a statement.

Talking about the Data Centre Champion award given to RailTel, the company Chairman and Managing Director Sanjai Kumar said that the accolade speaks highly of RailTel’ commitment to deliver best services to its clients through the best use of cutting edge technology.

“RailTel’s data centre services help customers to enhance infrastructure efficiency, improve business agility, optimize operational expenses and improve scalability and data centre privacy. Our data centers are located in India only and hence cloud services/data resides in Indian geography only, fulfilling the direction of Government of India to store the government data in India,” added Kumar.

RailTel is a “Mini Ratna”(Category-I) Central Public Sector Enterprise under Ministry of Railways. It is one of the largest neutral telecom infrastructure & ICT solutions & services providers in the country, owning a pan-India optic fiber network covering several towns and cities and rural areas of the country.
