New Delhi: Mother’s love is the purest form of love and for most of us she is our first role model. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, TV celebs remember their favourite memories with their mothers.
Being away from her is the most difficult for both of us: Sumedh Mudgalkar
“I personally believe that everyday should be Mother’s Day. Unfortunately this year due to the unprecedented times I can’t plan anything for her even if I want to, but I will surely call her and tell her how much I miss her by virtually spending time with her. Being away from her is the most difficult for both of us and I hope we get to meet soon. Until then I wish mine and all the mothers out there a very Happy Mothers-Day and I pray for their safety and well-being. May they be strong hale and hearty today and forever.”
She introduced me to my own conscience: Meera Deosthale
I am whatever I have learnt from my mother. From childhood to even now, there are innumerable things that she has taught me. But first and foremost that will always stay with me is that she told me to be a good person first. “Never wrong someone, if you can’t do good to someone, don’t do bad either,” she used to say. She introduced me to my own conscience. This Mother’s Day I want to thank her for the wonderful mom that she is. For her love is never-ending love and trust on me. She has sacrificed a lot for her kids and I am very grateful for having her in my life.
She told me how many lanes will you change by being afraid: Jasmin Bhasin
My mother has taught me a lot of things but the three most important ones are love, empathy and never-give-up attitude. My fondest memory with her is that as a child I was afraid to cross a lane in my city on the way to the gurudwara and wanted to change my way because of a boy. She told me how many lanes will you change by being afraid, you need to face it and teach that boy a lesson so that he stops intimidating you. And it became a life lesson for me.
There has not been a single day when I didn’t call up my mom: Delnaaz Irani
One thing that I have learned from my mother is discipline and to keep a very positive attitude and that has always been my mother’s strength. She is a fighter, a strong woman. She knows how to handle every situation with a smile. Her jest and her attitude for life is amazing. She is 78 now, but she wakes up early in the morning and goes to the gym. She has a very disciplined life. I have always led my life like her, being disciplined, being on time, giving my 100 percent, whether it’s your work or relationship. All this has come from the upbringing my parents gave me. I have so many fond memories with mom as a child.
We all are Bollywood movie buffs, we used to watch movies together and she used to go to all my elocution competition with me. She has been a part of my journey throughout like from school to college days or in terms of starting my work, in theatre, she has accompanied me to every single show of mine. As we grew up we became friends and there has not been a single day when I didn’t call up my mom. My gift for her is that I will pray for her good health. I want her to be healthy and do her own thing at 78 and be strong physically, emotionally and mentally. She is perfect and I just want to be like her.
Every day is a learning experience with my mom: Monika Khanna
Every parent is very special and very important. You can lose your name, fame, money, and get it back but once you lose your mother, you can never get her back. I pray to God that no one loses their mother during these difficult times. Every day is a learning experience with my mom, her patience, the sacrifice she has made and how she is as a person prepares me for my future. When I get married and have kids, I will always try to do things as she did for me and my sister. She is my inspiration
My mother is very innocent and childlike: Reena Kapoor
My mother is very innocent and childlike. If she likes something, she’ll not use it for the fear of it getting spoilt. Once I gifted her a blue coloured handbag which had lots of pockets, just the types she wanted. To date, it is lying in her cupboard untouched (laughs). I am yet to come across a human being as strong as my mother. She is very innocent and never sheds tears in front of anybody, no matter how badly you are hurt from inside. This is one thing that I have inherited from her. Even after the demise of my father (15 years back), she kept her pain to herself and diverted all her focus on God.
I lost my mother to cancer when I was in the10th grade: Amit Sarin
The greatest learning from my mother is to never give up. This leads to an understanding of patience and perseverance. I lost my mother to cancer when I was in the 10th grade. She was a fighter, at the same time, she had the ability to live life to the fullest. There was never a dull moment for her. She believed life has so much to offer and it’s better to experience it and pass it to others in the journey. She’s always with me.
I would love to cook some good food for her: Nibeditaa Paal
I am family oriented and share close bonds with my mother from the beginning. I remember as a kid we had gone to Rotorua together and on many such vacations to New Zealand. We had so much fun every time. I don’t think any gift can suffice or match her value! But she is a foodie like me. I would love to cook some good food for her this
Mother’s day.
You understand mothers’ love more when you become a mother: Anjali Phougat
I am so blessed to have two mothers one gave me birth and the other loves me just like her own daughter. Both my mother and mother-in-law are an inspiration to me, both have supported me unconditionally. I am in an inter-caste marriage and I feel like to have a mother-in-law who always loved me like her own daughter. She is a strong woman and always supported my passion. That I am a mother now, I understand the contribution of our mothers in our lives. It’s true that you understand mothers’ love more when you become a mother. I miss both my mothers and can’t wait for them as soon as things get better in India. I pray for their good health this Mother’s Day and everyday because it’s hard for me to dedicate just one day or just one gift for each of them.
That day I understood her love and my mistake: Prajwal Gupta
Once I went to the dam with my friends without telling my parents. When they tried to find me everywhere and could not they filed a missing report. When I returned, my mother was furious and did beat me, but she was full of tears too. That day I understood her love and my mistake. I don’t know what I get for the woman who has given me so much. I am planning to buy a house in Mumbai on my mother’s name. I know both my parents would be super excited when that happens.
My mother was my first best friend while growing up: Sayantani Ghosh
Since I was a little girl, my mother has always taught me a sense of independence, which has made me a very independent and strong woman of today’s time. I don’t believe in celebrating any occasion for a day, other than birthdays. I believe in making people feel special throughout the year by doing little-little things for them and stay connected. My mother was my first best friend while growing up and is still my Ludo partner. She is very forgiving and always tends to look at the brighter side of things, and the credit for my compassionate nature goes to her. I usually send her a bouquet or try my hands at cooking a meal for her to make her feel special. This year, we won’t be meeting, so I plan to send her a cake and flowers and wishes with lots of love and good health.
She always forgives everyone quickly: Yukti Kapoor
I believe every child is close to their mother, especially girls. My mother is a beautician by profession, and I have learnt a lot from her. The best advice that I have received from my mother is that we are in this world for a short time, and we should decide ourselves to spend it happily or by being sad. She always forgives everyone quickly, and I have imbibed this quality from her. Since childhood, I have seen her working and handling family simultaneously with a smile on her face. So, I have learned that we should face life fearlessly and strongly, and with a wide smile irrespective of the situation. She is my best friend and has always advised me to live in the moment and do what makes my heart happy. One of my favourite childhood memories is that she made me wear boy’s clothes and cut my hair short, even though I always wanted to be dressed up as a girl. Usually, I make sure to cook a nice meal for her and she is also very fond of gold jewellery, so I keep gifting her that along with cake and flowers. She also likes to decorate the house, so for interiors too, I have planned to give her a dream catcher.
My mother has instilled in me the idea of standing up against any injustice: Megha Chakraborty
From making me understand the value and importance of a family to help me believe in that institution, my mother has taught me all. I strongly feel we should celebrate Mother’s Day every day and make her feel special daily. My mother has always advised me to be very respectful towards elders and be honest with work. She has instilled in me the idea of standing up against any injustice happening around, especially with animals. She has made countless sacrifices, and I can’t thank her enough for it. My fondest memory goes back to the days of winters when she would lend her warm slippers while waking me up so that I don’t have to put my feet on cold flooring. I got her kitchen and house renovated recently, and she was delighted. My mother runs a small NGO back in Kolkata and very actively looks after and takes care of the strays.
She taught me that empathy, honesty, and perseverance: Nitin Kumar Gupta
My mother is a businesswoman and a homemaker. She taught me that empathy, honesty, and perseverance are the three things that can make one successful in any aspect of life. She also teaches me to always spread joy. My message to her is that she will always live on in the hearts of all those she touches. My trips to Thailand with my
mom are most memorable. We as a family spent weeks doing nothing except going to the beach, swimming and sipping on coconuts under the umbrella, without a care in the world. I would love to gift her countless more lazy carefree moments like these!
My fondest memory of childhood is cooking with her: Chandni Soni
The most important thing my mother has taught me is to believe in myself. She gave me the strength and courage to dream big and instead of telling me to shatter the glass ceiling, she told me that there is no glass ceiling for me and that I can achieve anything in the world with my hard work and preservance. It’s because of that self-belief
that she instilled in me that a small town girl like me could imagine of making it big in the entertainment industry. On Mother’s Day, I would like to thank my mother for believing in me and giving me the wings to fly. My fondest memory of childhood is cooking with her when she would narrate me the stories of woman achievers. That time I just heard it for fun but subconsciously she was teaching me to aspire and achieve.
I have always seen her calm: Amit Mishra
Mothers are so important that they are even compared to God. My mom is my first teacher and I have learned many things from her but the most valuable things I learned from her is to never give up. I have always seen her calm even in situations where a person might loose his or her cool. This Mother’s Day, I want to tell her that whatever
teachings I have learned from her I have spent it in the welfare of society. One of the fondest memory of my mother is that during one of the sports day, I lost a race and was very disappointed but my mother came to me and said, ‘Don’t worry. You will always be my champ, concentrate on your next goal. We must not stop.’ And I felt so good hearing such encouraging words.
Words can’t describe the way I love my mother: Rajit Dev
The good thing I’ve learnt from my mother is to never give up and be patient. She’s been a fighter throughout. I want to tell her that she’s the most special person in my life and I’m thankful to her for giving me the right knowledge and motivating me to be the person who I am. Words can’t describe the way I love my mother. My fondest memory is when I was a kid I used to keep my head on my mom’s hand and hold her thumb, only then I could sleep. I sometime do that now too. It makes me feel safe. If everything is fine I would want to go and meet my mom in Kerala this Mother’s Day. For her that will be the best gift according to me.
Her love is pure and selfless: Ajay Kumar Singh
Whenever you get hurt the first thing that comes out from your mouth is Maa. For me, my mother is my god, and there is nothing more important than her in my life. Her love is pure and selfless. She understands everything that is going inside her child without even them telling it. Life is nothing without a mother. My mother has taught
me that everything happens on the right time and to never lose patience. My fondest memory with her would be that as a kid I would go around the whole house with her, I used to never leave her alone, even when she insisted, I would always be found next to her.
My mom has taught me to be positive in life: Mrunal Jain
My mom has taught me to be positive in life and that after every rejection you should understand that there is something better coming in your life and never give up on your dreams. This and every Mother’s Day I tell her that I love her a lot, but this year I will also promise to give more of my time to her. My fondest memory is not a good one
but it was when my mom used to drop me back to my hostel and she used to cry while leaving me. It was so sad and I used to get see her just 4-5 times in a year and that too for day or two. As a gift, I promise to give her a house within next year.
We would spend the entire morning watching cartoons together: Amal Sehrawat
A mother is every child’s first teacher and I am no exception. She has taught me the philosophy of life that live in the present, learn from the past, and be optimistic about the future. Every Sunday, my mom used to make my favourite sugar toasts and then we would spend the entire morning watching cartoons together.
I have learnt everything from her: Vikas Sethi
My Mother’s name is Suraksha Sethi. I have learnt everything from her. She is stuck in Ludhiana right now and from there also, she is worried about my health and food. There are no words to describe the importance and definitions of a mother. Maa is the only word that comes out of your mouth when you are in trouble or get wounded.
She never complained: Arun Mandola
The greatest thing that I have learned from my mother is that she had faced lots of problems. When she was a small child, her mother died and at the age of 18, she got married. After marriage, she faced lots of crisis but she handled everything very nicely and never complained anything from god. These qualities I have learned from her. We
belong to a lower-middle-class family and in my childhood, I was very stubborn. I wouldn’t eat food, so she would give me Rs 5 or 10 for eating food.
The whole chapter of my life is about her: Utkarsha Naik
When it comes to my mother it just can’t be one thing which would be my favourite memory. The whole chapter of my life is about her. I just lost my mother a month back and life feels incomplete without her. But one of the fondest memory I want to share would be the festival time. Every year during Diwali she used to make snacks and sweets for us and I really miss that. My mother was my biggest fan as the kind of comments I used to get from her was very nice and it would make me feel happy. My mother never looked back and supported me in everything.”
