Cow may soon be considered World Mother, says ex-AWBI chief

Gurugram: An ardent animal lover and champion of the cause of cow-protection, former Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) Chairman SP Gupta hopes that cow would soon be referred to as “World Mother” given its myriad health benefits for humans.

“We consider Indian cow as a Mother but now it seems that soon cow shall be called the World Mother,” Dr. Gupta, a retired IAS officer said while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of cow-cuddling centre at Kamdhenu Gowdham near Gurugram, Haryana.

Sukhbir Jonpuriya, Member of Parliament (MP), Sameer Sharma, Director General of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), K K Khandelwal, Chairman of Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (HRERA) among other dignitaries attended the inaugural event.

“I am trying to do all the good works in my life only with the blessings of Cow-Mother,” said lawmaker Jonpuriya.

Dr Gupta who runs Kamdhenu Gowdham in the suburb of the national capital listed out the innumerable benefits of rearing cow. Besides milk which is complete food in itself, living in proximity of cow could keep many lifestyle diseases especially mental ailments like stress and anxiety away.

On the benefits of cow-cuddling therapy, he said that hugging the cow not only cures respiratory diseases, blood pressure, spinal pain, heart problem, depression, TB but also all kinds of mental tensions.

Further, psychologists have also endorsed the health benefits of cow-cuddling.

“Cow-cuddling therapy was prevalent in India since the era of Lord Krishna which we have forgotten with the passage of time. Kamdhenu Gowdham is making its efforts to revive it. This therapy works on the principal that when one lies on the lap of mother, share his mental thoughts with her, one forgets all his worries and problems since the nature of cow-Mother is very peaceful,” he noted.

He appreciated government efforts in helping farmers understand the benefits of cow-rearing which will promote organic farming.

K K Khandelwal informed the visiting dignitaries and attendees that central dynasty of Hindu religion is Raghuvansh and Yaduvansh only because of the blessing of Cow-Mother.

“Lord Rama and Lord Krishna sang the glory of Cow-Mother in their discourse,” he said.

During his term as AWBI Chairman, Dr SP Gupta went around across the country and pitched for creating facilities for stray cows and also urged the state governments to bring legislation for cow protection. His efforts bore fruits with many states allocating funds for cow-shelters.
